The premise is that their lifted Jeeps are more manly than a Nipple piercing. I’m not even exaggerating.

Please tell me you're being sarcastic

That may be the worst commercial I've ever seen.

Yup that was stupid, but they know their aptarget demographic, I’ll give them that. “Bro look at that whimp whimpy pale kid bro. Hahaha,” “yeah bro and look at that stupid weird looking guy bro. Lololololololololol” “ bro, I don’t want to be like them bro, let’s go drive our lifted Jeeps down to the mall bro,” “ yeah bro and don’t forget to turn on you very, off road only LED light bar so we can blind all the pussies who aren’t as awesome as us., bro.

I was unaware that nipple piercings were “heteronormative”. Or typically masculine, for that matter.

I’m disgusted to learn this dealer is in the same county I am in, let alone the same state.
UGH!!!

The commercial almost seems to be suggesting that modding a jeep is less manly?

I just meant in the way “YOU SHOULD BE HARDCORE and BUY A JEEP BECAUSE THAT MAKE YOU MANLY”

Yay for Simi! It the deep south of SoCal

I can almost grasp the message. A not tattooed and modified body is classic but you can modify a car to current trends and your own taste with much less regret.

this ad is cancer.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 02:07 |

As an ad, yes it is undoubtedly terrible, but not because it's heteronormative or whatever
![]() 06/29/2016 at 03:26 |

I didn’t even see them implying they’re was anything manly about it.
“There’s an easier way to modify your life” i.e. modifying a car is easier/less painful than body modification (tattoos, piercings, etc).

Heteronorma-huh? Oh it’s one of those offendedness words. If a 15 second ad from a used car dealer qualifies as “awful”, I question our generation’s ability to handle actual problems...

My dad died my junior year of college so I decided to finish in 3 from the number 8 public University in the USA to save money for his medical bills while simultaneously applying and getting into law school with a 100K scholership and planning a move across the country. I can handle my shit.

That’s a great accomplishment, but I don’t see what it has to do with inventing reasons to be offended. The world has enough manufactured outrage.

Sounds like you’re the one getting offended by a word... maybe you should just scroll by next time?

Welllll if anyone thinks body piercings and lifted Jeeps are hetero-man-exclusive, apparently myself and a lot of other women are doing it wrong
I see what you’re saying OP, (it’s still placing value over showing you’re a very MANLY MAN through piercings or Jeeps, which, cringe) but IMO heteronormative isn’t quite the right word. That would be if they were showing hetero couples as the “normal” pairing or something related.

If only you had some personal philosophy that meant you didn't get offended by tiny things. Hmmm

I saw a guy in a Dakota today with one of those linear light bars across his hood right at the bottom of his windshield.

No me no likely Simi, it's too hot. Northern Ventura is much nicer, there's lots of ocean!

That’s kinda what I got out of it too.
“Don’t modify yourself. Modify a Jeep instead! It’s much less painful”
I have no idea what type of target market they are going after though.

I think the premise of the commercial was that its less painful to modify your vehicle than your body, which is accurate. Its a dumb commercial, but I don’t get a “modified jeep is more masculine than nipple piercing” message. I don’t get any message about heteronormativity either. The kid is being emasculated by not having a tolerance for pain, but I don't see any message about sexual preference or gender identity.
